About the role

The Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor (E&I Supervisor) is responsible for the safe, environmentally sound and efficient daily operation of the facility and the personnel and activities of the Electrical & Instrumentation department, in maintaining continued operation of the facility in compliance with established safety regulations and procedures, production schedules, output requirements and contractual obligations.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Manages the activities of the Electrical & Instrumentation department, ensuring the prompt repair of machinery or instrumentation and electrical equipment malfunctions or inefficiencies.

  • Supports the NERC/FERC/FRCC Internal Compliance Program (ICP), ensuring that all applicable policies and procedures follow current NERC/FERC/FRCC requirements and standards.

  • Works cooperatively with operations, purchasing and engineering personnel in defining, analyzing, solving and repairing equipment and machinery.

  • Works cooperatively with the planner scheduler in implementing preventive maintenance programs, scheduling of work orders, and developing solutions to upgrade plant reliability, efficiency and economy.

  • Directs and schedules the Electrical & Instrumentation personnel, participates in the recruitment and hire of qualified personnel, completing annual performance/coaching reviews, assuring that all personnel are adequately trained, assessing employee`s performance on a regular basis, and ensuring that corrective actions procedures are followed when appropriate.

  • Assists in budget preparation and is responsible for managing and controlling department expenditures.

  • Ensures department compliance with all government regulations, environmental standards and plant safety procedures and programs.

  • Maintains accurate and organized Electrical Maintenance & Testing records and writes required reports.

Position Requirements & Qualifications:
  • An associate degree in mechanical or electrical technology or 5 years of verifiable experience in electrical maintenance of a power plant.

  • Three years of experience in supervising electrical maintenance work groups required.

  • Must have a complete understanding of all Electrical & Instrumentation department activities and a knowledge of associated plant equipment and the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in repair and maintenance of such equipment.

  • Experience in waste-to-energy preferred.

  • Must have experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical systems ranging from high voltage (13kv) to low voltage (120v) inclusive of motor control centers, load centers, circuit breakers, motors and associated controls.

  • Must have experience in the operation and maintenance of medium or large turbine generators, their instrumentation and controls.

  • Must have DCS experience with Emerson Ovation systems or similar type systems controls.

  • Must have experience with fire detection/suppression system controls.

Physical Demands of the Role:
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb

  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs

  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces

  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator

  • Consistently work in various weather conditions

Shift:
  • Monday through Friday days, some evenings, and weekends.
