Brief Description:

Reporting to the Indirect Tax Manager, this position will focus on the preparation of monthly returns, and the analysis of sales and use tax data and gathering information related to audits. The position will also provide support for various tax planning initiatives and assist with implementing best practices within the Tax department.

Detailed Description:



  • Assist the corporate tax department in all areas of indirect tax, including transaction tax, property tax, and excise tax
  • Run reports and assist with the preparation of regional tax account reconciliations
  • Provide audit support for any scheduled sales and use tax audits and assist Tax Manager as needed
  • Examine Division records and documentation to support exemptions or refunds
  • Research and resolve state sales tax issues for internal personnel and external tax authorities
  • Scan, index, and file tax notices, property tax statements, and receipts
  • Support the design and implementation of automation solutions primarily used for indirect tax compliance and reporting
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned by Tax Manager and Tax Director


Job Requirements:



  • Ability to prepare and maintain tax records, returns, reports, and other related material with the highest level of accuracy. Must be extremely detail oriented.
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to run reports and complete analysis with experience in data analytics software, such as Alteryx, or Microsoft Excel/Access
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize under pressure and within timeline constraints
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills to work effectively with all levels of employees and peers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and proactive problem solver adept at achieving results in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
  • Ability to always maintain Company and employee confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information and protect Company proprietary information in an appropriate manner



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Prior job experience, including internships, with accounting firm or financial reporting role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 1-2 years' experience with data analytics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)


Additional Details:

This job requires the ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines and maintain a calm and professional demeanor when adversity is encountered. It also requires the physical ability to work in an office environment including the ability to sit for long periods of time while performing office or computer tasks. The job may require some overtime including weekend or holidays. All applicants must be able to commit to a full-time schedule. While this position will allow flexibility to work remotely on occasion, the applicant must be able and willing to work in the office as needed.
