The Intake Screener, in a call center environment, independently manages inquiries, performs admission screenings, reviews and schedules inpatient admissions, and provides information to individuals seeking services offered at Rogers Behavioral Health (Rogers).

Pre-Admission Process

  • Handle inquiries, conduct screenings, and explain steps to access care.
  • Describe Rogers' levels of care and admission criteria to potential patients.
  • Gather and verify demographic and insurance information, utilizing contracted payor lists.
  • Review clinical data with clinicians to address safety concerns or support recommendations.
  • Explain bed assignment policies and manage capacity limitations.

Documentation

  • Enter inquiries, referral details, and clinical information accurately into systems.
  • Ensure quality and productivity standards for documentation and calls.

Support and Collaboration

  • Connect patients or representatives to external resources when needed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external facilities to facilitate care access.

Compliance and Training

  • Adhere to policies and regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, HIPAA, EMTALA).
  • Participate in training and development to stay informed on regulations and procedures.

Other Responsibilities

  • Support on-call, weekend, and holiday schedules as assigned.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by leadership.
  • Uphold department goals, organizational mission, and policy compliance.

Additional Job Description:

Education/Training Requirements:
  • High School diploma with 2 years relative experience or bachelor's degree. Minimum of two (2) years' experience in healthcare admissions or patient access, preferred.

  • Completion of required trainings under Rogers' policies.

  • Electronic medical record software experience, preferred.

  • General health insurance knowledge, preferred.

  • Computer skills (including but not limited to: utilizing multiple platforms, Microsoft applications, basic troubleshooting) required.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
