Job Summary:

Assists with coordination and supervision of construction processes ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. May have one or more foremen and/or lead persons as direct reports.

Main Responsibilities:

* Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
* Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
* Work with superintendents and project managers to ensure that assigned projects remain on time and on budget
* Assist with organizing and coordinating daily activities of assigned crew and equipment pertaining to scope of work, including delegation of tasks, and holding individuals accountable
* Read and interpret project plans and specifications
* Understand, interpret, and follow surveying markers and plans including slope stakes, control points, lines, grades, etc.
* Direct equipment operators to facilitate alignment and movement of materials
* Assist with coordination of supply of materials for assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery of materials to worksite
* Assist with employee training, mentoring, and development, and addressing performance concerns as needed
* Engage in open communication with project and operations managers; report any issues which could affect project plan, schedule or budget
* Perform administrative tasks, including but not limited to e-mail correspondence, timecard entry, handling documents and electronic files, etc.
* Attend internal and external pre-construction meetings and project site meetings as required
* Operate heavy equipment required for project completion; operate company vehicles to move people and equipment between job locations and company facilities
* Perform skilled work related to specialty area(s) of assigned position, including but not limited to: grading/site preparation, paving, etc.
* Ensure equipment maintenance inspections are completed to maintain equipment in safe operating condition
* Perform minor servicing and maintenance on equipment; refer major problems to the shop
* Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Education:

* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Degree in construction management, civil engineering, business, related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
* Valid Drivers' License and ability to maintain a clean driving history; Commercial Drivers' License (CDL) a plus

Skills:

* 3 to 5 years of experience in road, bridge, concrete construction, asphalt paving, or related area preferred
* 1 to 2 years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
* Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry requirements
* Experience with project estimation and cost analysis a plus
* Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety regulations, project plans, and related materials
* Sound reasoning and problem-solving skills
* Experience working under pressure of deadlines
* Computer and/or mobile device experience, including use of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Android and iOS applications; ability to learn new programs related to role
* Ability to plan and organize and direct the work of others
* Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the organization, clients, vendors, and other representatives

Physical Requirements:

* Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
* Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
* Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
* Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
* Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
* Standing/working on feet for long periods (8 hours or more), and walking across uneven terrain
* Frequently work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery
* Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all-weather conditions
* Some exposure to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
* Travel, including overnight stays away from home may be required
