Technical Distribution Principals in the Power Delivery group report to the Vice President of Operations. They proactively manage complex projects and programs and engage in organizational priorities, which include business development, client satisfaction, training, mentorship, and employee advancement. Incumbents are instrumental in implementing key organizational initiatives. This role requires a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in devising strategies to ensure growth of programs enterprise-wide and to identify and implement process improvements.

Incumbents provide inspirational leadership by attracting, retaining, motivating, and developing high- caliber talent. In addition, incumbents cultivate a constructive workplace culture that encourages collaboration, teamwork, positive attitude, and provides ongoing improvement to the quality of services provided to clients.



Responsibilities

    Able to follow and be responsive to project budgets and schedules; learn to identify departures from the project's defined scope of work
  • Coordinate all design work with other team disciplines
  • Design, manage, and assist in production of construction documents, including plans, specifications, calculations, and quantity takeoffs
  • Design, model, and submit complex electrical plan sets utilizing software applications such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil3D, Revit, AutoCAD Electrical Design Suite, and PLS-CADD
  • Apply best practices in interpreting and applying client, company, and field standards as needed
  • Apply knowledge of local codes and industry standards
  • Direct key organizational initiatives, including but not limited to, business development, client satisfaction, training, mentorship and advancement of assigned personnel
  • Communicate regularly with the Distribution Director and Power Delivery Group Managers
  • Cultivate effective relationships with existing and potential new clients
  • Address customer satisfaction issues
  • Understand and abide by industry set laws and standards
  • Oversee the development and training of assigned personnel and provide information to guide opportunities for advancement
  • Foster a constructive workplace environment
  • Identify business partners and subcontractors for the mutual pursuit of opportunities
  • Utilize skills as a responsive, proactive, solutions-oriented professional, working collaboratively within a team environment


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or relevant field or equivalent experience
  • At least 15 years of experience in the Power Delivery field (specific to electrical design), with progressive responsibilities
  • SDG&E Underground Design certification
  • SDG&E Overhead Design certification
  • SDG&E Gas Design certification
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software, including any technical software such as AutoCAD, Revit, PLS-CADD, etc., as needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly organized and detail oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills working in teams on many different types of projects that develop service line expertise:
    • Gas Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Structural Engineering
Desired Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years of experience in a public utility or engineering consulting environment
  • Master of Science degree in relevant field or Master of Business Administration degree
  • SDG&E Vault Design certification
  • PMP certification
Metrics:
  • Evaluation is based, in part on the timely, accurate completion of work
  • Attends in-house seminars and educational opportunities outside of the offices
  • Participates in relevant professional associations and other networking opportunities

The pay range for this California position is $175,000- $190,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
