JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Plant Science Department is seeking an Academic Program Coordinator to provide support for the Undergraduate Program advisors, faculty and staff for approximately 400 students in the Turfgrass Science, Landscape Contracting and Plant Sciences majors as well as several minors. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the undergraduate program by assisting Advising Coordinators, students and faculty with a wide variety of activities.Duties will include scheduling classes, finals and events for upcoming semesters, maintaining student records, assisting with drop/adds, processing degree audit exception petitions, performing graduation checks and clearances, and setting up course controls. Other duties include:

  • Participating in New Student Orientation (NSO), Spend a Summer Day and other recruitment activities as well as the offer of admission process.

  • Prepare and mail offer letters to prospective students.

  • Navigate LionPATH and run queries.

  • Keep forms and advising materials up to date, maintaining student listserv's and participating in meetings as necessary.

  • Design flyers used for announcing weekly seminars.

  • Email, format and post weekly seminar announcements to various forms of social media.

  • Maintain various department room calendars and approve requests in 25Live.

  • Maintain department directories, website and listserv's. A

  • Serve as the Department receptionist and provide general office support such as scheduling express mail pickups and track express mail shipments; open, sort and distribute US and interoffice mail. Faxing, copying materials and answering telephones. Process Fleet reservation and bus requests. Submit orders via PSUBuy for office and research supplies. Schedule Zoom meetings and coordinate audio and visual support.

Additionally, the Academic Program Coordinator collaborates with faculty, staff, and students within an academic unit or department to ensure the effective development and delivery of courses; responds to program inquiries from students or prospective students; recommends solutions related to university policies, procedures, and systems; evaluates and prepares student and course data related to degree requirements, academic actions, course section attributes and scheduling; monitors program budget and financial activities; coordinates and plans program related events including orientations, receptions, and workshops; provides consultation and interpretation on academic and records policies.

Education and Experience:

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
