Valiant is seeking a System Administrator (IAT-III) at our NAS Whidbey site in support of an advanced simulation training system environment.

The System Administrator III responsibilities include:




  • Coordinate Cybersecurity/ATO requirements with Government Cybersecurity/IA personnel, including ISSM, ISSO, ISEO, and COR.
  • Implement and enforce Department of Navy systems access in accordance with Joint Program guidelines.
  • Ensure information ownership responsibilities.
  • Review and maintenance of IA certifications
  • Ensure security measures are incorporated in all training devices, that security violations and incidents are properly documented and reported to COR and ISSM, and IAM security procedures are implemented.
  • Ensure system logs are reviewed IAW Joint Program guidelines.
  • Implement directed technical vulnerability corrections.
  • Support Assessment and Validation events.
  • Execute and analyze vulnerability scans upon request by Government IA personnel.
  • Ensure all media and data storage is in accordance with SECNAV 5510.36 series and Media Protection Plan.
  • Support the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications ensuring integration with IA security requirements for the enclave.
  • Perform IA specific preventive maintenance of computer systems and network components, including software backup and antivirus.
  • Maintain Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
  • Perform hardware and software installation in a client/server environment and be able to expertly navigate networking equipment.
  • Provide IA security oversight for devices to include coordination with IAM on IA security measures, guidance, training, and assistance to Staff on IA subject matter.
  • Perform comprehensive scheduled IA preventive maintenance of computer systems and network components.
  • Ensure the security, stability, and performance of the organization's systems.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation and procedures.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations.
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery processes.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide required reports
  • Provide end user support
  • Perform other tasks as required by Site Lead

Requirements:



  • Possess current certification in either: CISSP, CASP, CCNP, or CISA or IAT-III equivalent and maintain necessary certifications and required forty (40) hours of annual continuing education
  • Possess applicable CE/OS Certifications (Linux, Windows)
  • Must meet the minimum credential requirements and maintain the minimum training requirements as identified in DoD 8140 (IAT-level III)
  • Possess a minimum of seven (7) years' experience or equivalent in a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position; experience should include Customer Service and Technical Support, Data Administration, Knowledge Management, Network Services, System Administration, and Systems Security Analysis.
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Applies extensive knowledge of a variety of the IA field's concepts, practices, and procedures to ensure the secure integration and operation of all enclave systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of system security, network management, and data recovery
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Support the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications ensuring integration with IA security requirements for the enclave.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using and installing networking equipment such as switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with system patching and IA vulnerability alerts (IAVA), IA vulnerability bulletins (IAVB), and technical advisories (TA)
  • Be able to provide end user support for all IA related applications.
  • Be able to perform routine maintenance, to include diagnostic testing and optimization.
  • Within six (6) months of assignment, complete Government sponsored training on the DoD Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and be able to assist Government IA personnel in the configuration and sustainment of IA processes
  • Be able to coordinate and implement software backup and antivirus requirements and perform scheduled IA specific preventive maintenance of computer systems and network components.
  • Be able to coordinate Cybersecurity/ATO requirements with Government Cybersecurity/IA personnel, including the ISSM, ISSO, ISEO, and COR. Possess a working knowledge and familiarity with applicable Cybersecurity instructions and practices (e.g., DoDI 8140
  • Requires mental alertness and ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English. Physical ability to walk on rugged, un-level surfaces, stand and/or sit for extended periods of time, and to climb two (2) flights of stairs and ladders is required.
  • Applicants must be US citizens, possess the ability to obtain a US passport and will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to receive and maintain a Top-Secret clearance for access to classified information.
  • Preferred: Experience as a Computer Systems Technician
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field
