Position Summary

Oceaneering Mobile Robotics is currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Cost Accountant with 3 -5 years of relevant experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in analyzing, monitoring, and controlling third party manufacturing costs within the context of our diverse and dynamic international operations. This position requires expertise in standard product cost accounting, fix and variable burden absorption analysis, variance analysis, and experience working with modern manufacturing processes, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Hybrid/Remote position based in Orlando, FL

Travel expected to be up to 10%.

Duties & Responsibilities

PROJECT COST ANALYSIS AND REPORTING

* Assist the Project Managers in managing their project portfolio providing top quality financial data, like Earned Value calculations, labor/hours, accruals, contract/change order interpretations, milestone tracking, and penalties & liabilities impacts.
* Support Project Managers in timely and accurate project forecasting (Estimate to Complete and Estimate at Complete), raise red flags when and where required and manage contingency and warranty releases.
* Prepare project close entries at month-end.
* Record forecast and free cash flow at the project level.
* Provide and assist billing team with necessary support to enable customer billing.
* Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as needed to support business decisions.
* Respond to inquiries from management regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
* Work closely with legal and procurement teams to understand and implement contractual obligations.
* Prepare and present regular cost reports to management, highlighting key cost drivers and areas for improvement.

MANUFACTURING COST ANALYSIS AND REPORTING

* Conduct detailed analysis of manufacturing costs, identifying variances and trends.
* Ensure full transparency on cost evolution of Value Engineered items by the Contract Manufacturer and the Business.
* Collaborate with operations teams to understand production processes, risks, and cost implications.
* Assist in the review and update standard costs to reflect changes in production processes and market conditions.

BUDGETING AND FORECASTING

* Work closely with department heads to gather relevant data and provide insights into cost projections.
* Track actual performance against budgeted figures and investigate and explain variances.
* Provide valuable input for the monthly and annual Plan process re-expected manufacturing budgets, project revenues and job profits.

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes and track the impact on costs.
* Assist and initiate further development of project reporting tools (Adaptive, Power BI and other tooling).

COMPLIANCE AND AUDIT

* Ensure compliance with accounting policies, regulations, and standards.
* Assist in internal and external audit processes, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
* 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in cost accounting, preferably in a discrete and process manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
* Proficient in SAP and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
* Systematic, organized, flexible and eye for detail and deadlines.

Additional Information

This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
