Position Summary

The Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico is looking for a dynamic leader with outstanding organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills to join our business operations team as an Operations Manager (Administrative Operations). Anderson is a world-class business school with award winning faculty and programs, offering a wide array of degree programs for a diverse student population. Anderson is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International and is one of the few programs in the world to attain both an Accounting and Business Accreditation from AACSB.

The successful candidate will help develop, lead, and guide the administrative operational activities for our newly developed Business Operations Team. Specific duties will include:



  • Oversee the administrative transactional work for Anderson, ensuring compliance with university policy, departmental best practice, and delivery of outstanding service to our internal customers;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of processes to support the needs of the college;
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision for assigned team members of the Business Operations Team. This will include hiring, monitoring work allocation, training, and professional development for the team. Assist in the creation of an environment where team members can not only succeed but thrive;
  • Work with the Academic Operations Office to conduct workforce analysis, when needed, to ensure appropriate staffing levels, career progression opportunities, and succession planning to meet the needs of the college;
  • Provide reporting on administrative activities as required by the Dean's Office;
  • Understand and be able to provide timely and accurate guidance to team member regarding the appropriate index accounts. Monitor and audit transactions to ensure financial accuracy;
  • Foster strong, positive working relationships with departments within the college, as well as Fiscal Shared Services to provide first-in-class service to internal customers, faculty candidates, and other constituencies of the college;
  • Oversee Anderson facilities needs including maintenance needs, assistance with space allocation requests, and upkeep of the college workroom

Conditions of Employment
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated effective leadership abilities and experience leading multiple team members. Ability to establish key performance areas for team members, monitor and mentor toward success in those areas
  • Experience working with UNM LoboMart or other large university's purchasing system, experience working with university purchasing cards such as UNM's P-card, and knowledge of associated policies and recordkeeping
  • Knowledge of and direct experience with payroll processes (timekeeping/approvals)
  • Demonstrated organizational skills as evidenced in past work experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated abilities to foster strong working relationships across a variety of departments and diverse groups of people
  • Strong professional focus on delivery of outstanding customer service with metrics
