Financial Aid Counselor/Coordinator

The Financial Aid Counselor/Coordinator will play a key role in assisting students and families in understanding and accessing financial aid opportunities. The individual in this role will provide personalized financial counseling, assist with the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid programs, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance to prospective and current students and their families on financial aid options, including grants, scholarships, loans and work-study.
  • Assists students in completing necessary financial aid applications and documents.
  • Conducts one-on-one meetings and virtual consultations to explain financial aid process, eligibility requirements and award packages.
  • Processes financial aid packages, ensuring that students receive the appropriate documents in a timely manner.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in financial aid implementation and administration.
  • Stays current with changes in federal and state financial aid regulations.
  • Works to maintain accurate records and reports related to financial aid disbursements and compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with other offices on campus, including admissions, student accounts, and academic departments, to ensure smooth financial aid processing and student success.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree recommended.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial aid or related field preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and empathetically with diverse populations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Ellucian Colleague and Microsoft Office Suite.
