Overview
Southern Cancer Center is hiring a full time Nurse Practitioner foor our office at Springhill Hospital. Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Care:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Initiate and document appropriate interventions; evaluate and record patient/family responses, and prescribe therapies as needed.
- Perform procedures after receiving appropriate training.
Education and Wellness Promotion:
- Assess patient and family needs, providing education and promoting wellness.
- Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Clinical Practice and Development:
- Integrate evidence-based research into clinical practice.
- Develop knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
Documentation and Case Management:
- Complete patient charge capture and medical record documentation promptly.
- Provide case management for patients and their families, with a developing understanding of community resources.
Staff and Community Engagement:
- May promote and provide staff education.
- Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and handling weekend or after-hour calls.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Nurse Practitioner
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school, with successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
- Entry-level position requiring 0-3 years of post-MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty.
- RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
