POSITION SUMMARY: The Activity Therapist is responsible for the completion of the activities component of the comprehensive assessment; and the comprehensive care plan goals and approaches that are individualized to match the skills, abilities, and interests of each patient.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's of Science in Therapeutic Recreation. Current certification at the Therapeutic Recreation

Specialist level as determined by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.

Experience: 1 year of experience in a social or recreational program required, experience in a health care setting preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Implements the therapeutic activity program under the direction of the Therapeutic Activity Coordinator.
  2. Implements appropriate, goal oriented recreation leisure treatment plans to meet the specific needs of individuals receiving service.
  3. Completes the activities component of the comprehensive assessment.
  4. Contributes to the comprehensive care plan goals and approaches that are individualized to match the skills, abilities, and interest of each patient.
  5. Documents as needed in patient care records.
  6. Participates as a team member on designated patient care teams.
  7. Maintains standards of service consistent with the recommendations of the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation.
  8. Helps in development of therapeutic recreation services through innovative ideas, marketing and education.
