DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This internship primarily centers on the restoration of neglected mining areas in Pennsylvania. The role involves supporting reclamation research efforts and formulating strategies and initiatives aimed at surface restoration. Additionally, the intern will be responsible for gathering water samples to conduct biological evaluations and will aid in field investigations addressing various issues associated with abandoned mining locations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time internship that will last from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on a schedule that aligns with your supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

  • Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:
    • Biology
    • Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences
    • Environmental Sciences
  • An approved major course of study at an accredited college or university
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
  • Freshman year completed
  • Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university

Additional Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
