DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Supervisor, your primary role will be to manage all aspects of dietary services, ensuring that meals are prepared and served punctually and to the highest standards. You will take charge of assigning tasks, coordinating activities, and conducting thorough inspections and evaluations of the work carried out in both food service and production areas through daily on-site assessments. This oversight is crucial to guarantee that our consumers receive meals of the highest quality, served at appropriate temperatures and in a safe, clean, and sanitary environment. Additionally, you will be responsible for training and supervising staff members, as well as maintaining personnel records, which include time schedules, attendance logs, and performance evaluations. Furthermore, your duties will extend to requisitioning, receiving, and inspecting food supplies and equipment, along with the preparation and maintenance of necessary records and reports.

Work Hours and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.
  • Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Sunday to Saturday, with (2) 15 minute breaks.
  • Rotating schedule, work weekends and Holidays as assigned.
  • Overtime: as needed.
  • May change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Food Service Worker and/or production experience, and an Associate degree with major course work in food production and food service; or
  • Three years of paid experience in food production and/or service and successful completion of a Certified Dietary Manager course; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which consists of experience in an institutional setting preparing specialized therapeutic diets, or course work in food production, food service or a related field.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
