This position is based out of Feeding America's Chicago office location in the heart of downtown Chicago. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Interns can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) and work from home on other days

The internship program is designed to give you an opportunity to complement your formal education with career-related experience and is open to current undergraduates, individuals starting their graduate degree in the fall and current graduate students. The internship will provide a stimulating and substantive work experience, coupled with an experience to expand your knowledge and understanding of Feeding America.
The Opportunity
The Technology team at Feeding America is dedicated to empowering food banks and other charitable organizations with innovative solutions to address hunger. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on two impactful projects that enhance the efficiency and scalability of hunger-relief efforts through technology. First, the intern will help define how skilled volunteers can support food banks by developing guides to help onboard, manage and recruit technical volunteers. Second, the intern will research charitable food delivery models across the country, analyzing trends and gaps, and create a strategic plan to position Feeding America's OrderAhead platform as a key component of long-term food delivery strategies.

* Collaborate with team members and food bank staff to gather insights on technical needs and challenges.
* Develop clear, step-by-step instructional guides and materials for onboarding and managing skilled technical volunteers.
* Research charitable food delivery models across the country, including trends, best practices, and gaps.
* Analyze findings to identify opportunities for integrating Feeding America's OrderAhead platform into long-term delivery strategies.
* Prepare a final report and presentation summarizing recommendations and project outcomes.
Internship Duration
  • 6/3/25 through 08/22/25 (11 weeks total - 40 hours per week)
Hourly Salary
  • $16 - Undergraduate
  • $17 - Students between Undergrad and Graduate school (starting grad school in fall)
  • $18 - Graduate School
Requirements
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience or coursework in research, data analysis, or project management.
* Interest in nonprofit operations, technology, or food security.
* Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
* Preferred areas of study or majors: Business, Nonprofit Management, Public Policy, Technology, or Data Analytics.
