Position Overview
The Executive Director of Marketing and Engagement plays a crucial leadership role in shaping the marketing and communications strategy for the University of Pittsburgh School of Business (Pitt Business). This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing plan that supports the School's strategic goals, enhances its national reputation, and drives student recruitment and engagement. Working closely with the Dean's Office and senior leadership, the Executive Director ensures that Pitt Business's marketing efforts effectively communicate its value proposition, strengthen its brand identity, and support its academic and enrollment objectives.

Job Summary

Facilitates and oversees the creative services function of an organization and directs a team of artists or other creative professionals who produce visual messages promoting the University and its products and services. Manages simultaneous, concurrent creative projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets. Develops and manages relationships with vendors or freelancers, creative personnel, and internal and external clients.

Develops and manages relationships with vendors or freelancers, creative personnel, and internal and external clients.


Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with the Dean's Office to identify strategic marketing priorities and initiatives that align with Pitt Business's mission and objectives.
  • Lead the Pitt Business Marketing and Communications team to execute dynamic, multi-channel marketing strategies, ensuring consistent and effective communication across all platforms.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies for both undergraduate and graduate recruitment, including online programs, to enhance Pitt Business's visibility and appeal to prospective students.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and community partners.
  • Elevate Pitt Business's reputation through targeted public relations efforts, emphasizing the School's academic excellence, research contributions, and alumni achievements.

Physical Effort

The incumbent may be required to lift packages or boxes in excess of 15 pounds at times. May also travel around campus to meet with key stakeholders. Position is mainly sedentary.
