Job Summary:

Under the direction of the MSPE Program Director and Department Chair:
1. Teach assigned course(s) as specified in the lecturer agreement.
2. Evaluate and select instructional materials, prepare course materials
3. Provide students an approved syllabus using the UW-Madison syllabus template that includes all the necessary components of a well-developed syllabus
4. Use the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) to post syllabus, assignments, other materials, and communicate with students
5. Deliver the course content using different strategies to engage students in high quality instruction
6. Work with a graduate teaching assistant and provide instruction on how they will assist with the course.
7. Observe and provide timely feedback to students their progress in meeting course outcomes/learning objectives
8. Be available for student consultation through office hours and/or schedule appointments.
9. Maintain records of attendance, assessment and grades, submit final grades.
10. Encourage students to submit course evaluations, review course evaluations when available and use feedback to make course improvements.


Responsibilities:
Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

  • 30% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • 60% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • 10% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Education:

Required
Terminal Degree
PhD in Educational Psychology, Psychology, Curriculum and Instruction, Education or similar programs.


Qualifications:

1. Current knowledge of the relevant discipline
2. Evidence of prior instruction of graduate education courses preferred
3. Prior experience providing online instruction
4. Ability to respond to the needs of learners from a variety of educational backgrounds and learning styles
5. Ability to use technology effectively, specific experience using an online learning management system, preferred experience in using Canvas learning management system
6. Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
7. Excellent written communication skills
8. Good organizational skills and timeliness in responding to student inquiries


Work Type:

Part Time: 20% - 50%

It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location.


Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 4 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding


Salary:

Minimum $35,500 ACADEMIC (9 months)
Depending on Qualifications

This position may be extended or made renewable depending on department need, performance and available funding. Current School of Education staff are encouraged to apply. Instructors will have knowledge of the MSPE program and their student needs.
