DEP Intern - Knox District Mining Office (College)

The intern in this role will acquire hands-on experience by supporting the Bureau of District Mining Operations in the identification, mapping, and sampling of water at coal mining locations. This involves managing post-mining drainage for which the Department oversees water treatment through third-party contractors funded by the Department. Additionally, the intern will aid inspectors in gathering water samples from operational coal and industrial minerals mining sites.

• Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

• Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:
  • Engineering
  • Geology
  • Environmental Science
• An approved major course of study at an accredited college or university
• Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
• Freshman year completed
• Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university

• This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
