Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Freight and Logistics Researcher for the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (
CAIT) within the School of Engineering. This position is reporting to the Director of the center and working independently with clearly defined objectives of the projects involved.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on research topics related to inventory, assessment, visualization and analytics for highway infrastructure assets, specifically within spatially-enabled environments.
- Evaluates projects related to the freight and logistics industry, Goods Movement Strategies, or Freight Corridors.
- Serves as the principal investigator or co-principal investigator on specific tasks for research projects pertaining to transportation planning, asset management, design, maintenance, preservation, rehabilitation, smart structures, smart cities, sensor technologies, and advanced materials.
- Provides technical input on existing contract and upcoming proposal and represents Rutgers at national and international conferences, workshops, or technical meetings.
- Acts as liaison between academia, industry and government partners.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education/experience in Civil Engineering.
- Also requires a minimum of 5 years of experience and/or increasing functional responsibility in a leadership/managerial role.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Desired expert-level knowledge of Freight Industry Systems, goods movement strategies software platforms, and tools for transportation infrastructure.
- Preferred experience on the execution of policy, governance, and asset hierarchy to support long term, freight and logistics industry, Goods Movement Strategies or Freight Corridors projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in the design of business process workflows, technical architectures, and freight integration best practices.
