Salary Range:Employees start at an entry rate of $162.38 per day, which is 85% of the full rate.

This Material Clerk position is a Guaranteed Rotating Extra Board (GREB) role, requiring on-call availability to cover shifts when permanently assigned employees are absent. This position is in the Transportation department whose responsibility isensuring efficient and safe freight movement through advanced technology, real-time data coordination, and rigorous safety protocols.

This position is On Call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Guaranteed 40 hours per week.

Travel is minimal.

Training for this position is company-paid on-the-job training.

Key responsibilities may include any of the following assignments on a shift:

Transport train crewssafely in a BNSF crew van. This role involves driving in and around rail yards, city and highway traffic, and navigating challenging weather, rough terrain, and remote areas.

Perform various clerical and administrative tasksincluding station and yard office functions, updating train inventory, ordering supplies and directing train traffic. Responsibilities also involve accurately inputting data, typing letters and reports, filing, sorting and using a computer to prepare reports and handling various forms of correspondence. May also include performing basic janitorial duties.

Customer service supportwhich can include corresponding with customers, addressing waybilling errors, track and trace railroad cars, and providing rail car movement updates.

Support operational needsto provide waybilling electronically of company material railroad cars when appropriate. Assist with exception-based waybilling of railroad cars for customers and various departments as needed. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
  • At least 18years of age or will be by the anticipated start date listed above.
  • Availableto report for duty at the designated work location.
  • Able to work safely in the above working conditions.
  • Able to work the above shift/hours.
  • Abilityto read, write and communicate (speak, hear, and understand) English.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow, and lunar (clear light);Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment.
  • Abilityto learn to identify, interpret and use hand signals from near and far and visually judge the speed and distance ofmoving objects.
  • Abilityto use handsand hand toolsto perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling.
  • Ability tobend, walk,stand, and sit forseveral hourswith breaks.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment required for the job in a safemanner.
  • Basic level skills in Microsoft Office Suiteprograms(i.e.,Excel, Outlook, Word)with prior experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs in either a professional or academic setting.

Union membership is with the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) and union dues are required per union agreement.
