About This Role

The FarmsLab Team within the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department (http://bae.ksu.edu) at Kansas State University is accepting applications for Research Engineer positions, which will provide technical leadership in computer vision and AI for Agricultural Automation and autonomy for mobile vehicle systems. The position will be part of the Institute for Digital Agriculture and Advanced Analytics (https://www.k-state.edu/id3a). The KSU FarmsLab Team (https://farmslab.k-state.edu/) comprises graduate students and professional staff working on federal, commodity boards and industry partners. The team works closely with agricultural industry partners to develop innovative technology solutions for digital agriculture. The candidate will be expected to engage in multiple projects with moderate oversight and will be responsible for planning the timeline and lifecycle of the project for timely completion.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • MS in Data Analytics or MS in Computer Science, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field
  • Hands-on experience with Python, C++, and ROS2
  • Proficiency in Nvidia systems and deploying machine learning models on hardware
  • Strong background in data presentation through dashboards, statistical analysis, and machine learning for solving engineering and agricultural problems
  • Experience with sensors, automation, and robotics for large-scale systems
  • Skilled in building user-friendly dashboards for real-time and post-analysis data presentation, making complex machine learning outputs accessible to stakeholders
  • Exposure to statistical analysis and high-performance computing techniques to process and analyze large-scale data efficiently
