The position is seeking distinguished scholars and educators to apply for a Distinguished Scholar/Professor position. This is a 12-month position at the rank of Associate Professor (Distinguished Scholar) or Full Professor (Distinguished Professor). The anticipated start date is August 2025. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and scholarly accomplishments. We seek a candidate of exceptional caliber for the area of family nurse practitioner or adult/geriatric primary care nurse practitioner, with potential opportunities for stepping into leadership roles to shape the future of our academic and clinical endeavors. Job responsibilities include delivering high-quality instruction and mentoring across multiple platforms, including classroom, clinical, project-based, and simulation settings primarily in graduate nursing courses with a concentration in family nurse practitioner and doctor of nursing practice tracks. The candidate should be an expert in teaching clinical courses in the family nurse practitioner track. In addition to teaching and facilitating the application of nursing theories, principles, and skill competencies, the candidate will
serve as a faculty/student advisor, mentor and coach to students inside and outside of the classroom; produce scholarly research that results in publications in peer-reviewed journals within the discipline or within peer-reviewed interprofessional/interdisciplinary journals that promote the teaching and learning of nursing; facilitate presentations at well-respected professional conferences; engage in the procurement of extramural funds with interdisciplinary teams;
participate in departmental, School, and university service as well as engage in service relative to the nursing profession and the larger Winston-Salem and Forsyth County communities. |

The Division of Nursing seek exceptional candidates who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching nursing theory and clinical to graduate students from
culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and who demonstrate the ability to
leverage various technologies that engage students in the learning process. The successful candidate will
mentor and support graduate students in the research/scholarly project/DNP project experience and/or engage students in study aboard, practicum and residency opportunities, or community service learning where they must leverage their content knowledge to benefit the larger community. Preferred candidates must exhibit the ability to
engage in in academic-clinical partnerships, interdisciplinary teaching, learning, and research collaboration with the broader constituencies. Candidates must show a
commitment to liberal education, advanced nursing practice, and social determinants of health in inclusive environments, particularly primary care and with teaching and learning communities. The successful candidate must exemplify
commitment to their own professional growth and development and engage in inter/professional organizations and conferences.
Required Qualifications:
The following qualifications and skills are required for this position:
- Candidates must have a minimum of a Doctoral Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Candidates must hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina or have eligibility to obtain a North Carolina Registered Nurse license.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) candidates should have national certification as a family nurse practitioner or adult-gerontology primary care with a minimum of seven years of practice experience in the APRN role.
- Must have a minimum of six calendar years teaching experience, including hybrid and/or online, in a college or university setting.
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to leverage various technologies that engage students in the learning process.
- Candidates must be proficient in test construction using general or APRN blueprint, statistical analysis, and instructional reinforcement to achieve learning outcomes.
- The successful candidate must be a clinical expert and possess effective communication and assessment skills.
- Must provide evidence of the ability to mentor and support graduate and professional students in scholarly experiences and/or engage students in study aboard, internship opportunities, or community service learning.
- The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of peer-reviewed publications in Nursing and/or interprofessional field.
- The successful candidate must have a research agenda along with a record of successful external funding.

Teaching and Advising
- The successful candidate will primarily teach graduate nursing courses either face-to-face, hybrid, or online.
- General teaching responsibilities include both didactic and clinical/lab/ simulation instruction, primarily teaching curriculum content and clinical related to family nurse practitioner and doctor of nursing practice at the graduate and professional levels.
- The faculty will advise and mentor students regarding academic matters and help foster a student-centered learning environment.
- The successful candidate must construct detailed course syllabi. The ideal candidate will facilitate high-quality, engaging instruction.
- The ideal candidate will leverage various technologies (e.g., Canvas, EAB Navigate) to communicate regularly with students, monitor student progress, and provide feedback on student success outcomes.
- The successful candidate must engage with students during mandatory office hours each week.
Scholarship and Research
- The successful candidate is expected to write grant proposals and pursue external funding.
- The successful candidate would conduct research to further the mission and vision of the university, school, and department.
- The successful candidate would demonstrate a record of peer-reviewed publications in Nursing and/or interprofessional field.
University, Professional, and Community Service and Engagement
- Meet with the course coordinator, program director, and chairperson regularly and as requested. Attend consistently departmental, school, and university meetings.
- Serve and/or chair departmental-level committees.
