Position Summary |
The Southern Regional Extension Forestry (
SREF) Office within the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources is seeking a part-time IT support professional to work on a variety of forestry & natural resource outreach related IT products. This position will support the
SREF IT team in their work related to designing, developing, and maintaining custom client-centric web-based applications. The position will support the
SREF IT team as they create, maintain and update complex web-based or mobile applications for external clients. The person in this position will need to possess some knowledge/experience with software engineering/developing, object-oriented web development and be willing to problem-solve. |

9. Some experience working on IT projects
- One year experience developing and supporting professional web applications.
- Proficient in Web front-end and back-end web application development utilizing Python and Java Script OOP languages, HTML and CSS markup and Plone CMS.
- Familiarity and experience with Forestry and Natural Resources IT needs

IT project specific support work
- Work under the supervision of lead IT developers to learn the scope, data requirements and specifications for particular web applications and IT systems in order to support their development, testing and delivery.
- Test project web applications.
- Research alternative web tools & approaches for specific web application uses.
- Develop code and deploy for project web applications.
- Document the status and progress of assigned projects verbally and in written reports.
- Add hundreds of webinars/videos to a learning management system manually and/or design and develop a script to automate the process
- Assist with client environment upgrades, which may include designing and developing code to automate processes related to content additions.

- Work closely with SREF staff, clients, and partners in the maintenance and support of SREF's hosted web applications and IT systems.
- Provide client support (and end-user web support) as needed and propose application modifications to support client needs.
