Responsible for breaking, scoring, burning continuous sheets of glass into specific lengths. Cuts flat glass either by hand or through the operation of a machine to specified size and shape by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Positions pattern on glass or measures dimensions and marks cutting lines.
  • Scribes around pattern or along straightedge.
  • Breaks away excess glass by hand or with notched tool or glass pinchers.
  • Smooths and sands rough edges.
  • Tables large, heavy sheets of glass.
  • Grinds, polishes, seams, and bevels glass, as directed.
  • Transports product and helps to unload raw product.
  • Ensures that equipment used is operable and maintained in working order.
  • Cleans equipment, floors, and work areas according to safety procedures.
  • Able to work overtime as business needs require.
  • Other duties may be assigned.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  • Less than high school education
  • Or up to one month related experience or training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Language Skills - Ability to read basic instructions and safety information. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Mathematical Skills - Basic math skills required. * Reasoning - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and glass.
  • Frequently exposed to extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
  • Routinely exposed to hazardous noise levels.
