Overview

The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst & Technical Accountant is responsible for supporting the preparation of the Company's public filings and related disclosures (such as the 10-Q's, 10-K, 8-K's, Proxy Statement, etc.). This is a great opportunity to get to know the inner workings of our global business and how we communicate our results to investors and stakeholders. This key team member will also assist with U.S. GAAP technical research, including the task of providing support for the rigorous requirements of implementation, documentation, and disclosure of new accounting standards worldwide.

In addition, a critical aspect of this position's key responsibilities includes administering our global lease accounting program as well as being involved in stock-based compensation accounting arising from the Company's equity awards. This role provides a unique combination of traditional SEC reporting skills and highly technical, specialized accounting skills. A keen eye for detail, pro-activeness and a strong values alignment are ingredients for success in this role.

This role offers the flexibility of working a hybrid schedule from home and in our San Diego office (2-3 days onsite).



Responsibilities

    Assists with the preparation of the Company's SEC filings such as Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K:
    • Prepares and maintains documentation supporting the information included in the filings.
    • Coordinates the review of the documents with management and legal counsel.

  1. Responsible for the preparation and timely reporting of the Company's worldwide consolidated financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement and statement of shareholders' equity. Prepares the consolidated eliminating entries on a quarterly basis or as needed.

  2. Assists with the Company's global compliance with GAAP/accounting standards:
    • Leads the quarterly review meeting of changes in accounting standards.
    • Assists with the analysis, implementation and documentation of new accounting standards worldwide to ensure that new accounting standards are properly disclosed in SEC filings.
    • Prepares routine quarterly accounting position papers such as reviews of goodwill and intangibles.

  3. Responsible for U.S. GAAP accounting and financial calculations and reporting requirements related to leases entered into by the Company at all locations globally.

  4. Assists in matters related to U.S. GAAP accounting and financial calculations and reporting requirements related to stock-based compensation expense globally arising from the equity awards issued by the Company to its employees and non-employee directors.

  5. Supports quarterly and annual audits with independent public accounting audit team and is responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley processes in areas of responsibility.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • CPA desirable but not required.
  • 4+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience in a publicly traded company and/or audit experience.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting treatment for equity awards and leases.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Able to independently research accounting standards and summarize applicable recommendations in whitepapers.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially with Excel, as well as experience with ERP systems.
  • In depth knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley risks and controls.
  • Big 4 accounting experience is a plus.
