Job Description |
The Financial Aid Assistant supports the administration of financial aid programs by assisting students and families with completing applications, reviewing submissions, maintaining student records, and explaining financial aid packages. Ensures compliance with regulations, provides guidance on available aid options, and performs administrative tasks to ensure efficient operations.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position |
Required Education |
High school diploma or
GED |
Required Experience |
One (1) year of work experience involving customer service in banking, finance, or higher education |
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities |
- Thorough knowledge of general administrative and office practices and procedures.
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in database entry, review and quality control.
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply applicable policies, procedures, and/or practices.
- Ability to work and cooperate with co-workers and supervisors at all levels.
- Ability to coordinate the activities of several ongoing projects.
- Ability to understand and act on oral and written instructions in English
- Ability to maintain customer service and satisfaction as it relates to assigned unit or area of expertise.
- Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Associate's degree or higher
- Experience working with financial assistance
- Previous experience working in college financial aid
