St. Paul Academy and Summit School is seeking applicants for the position of Girls Head Varsity Soccer Coach.

About St. Paul Academy and Summit School:

St. Paul Academy and Summit School: St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) is a coeducational, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school serving more than 920 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Our two campuses are located approximately a mile apart in St. Paul, Minnesota, serving Grades K-5 on our Goodrich Campus and Grades 6-12 on our Randolph Campus. SPA believes Athletics contributes to the overall educational experience of our students, where lessons learned in sport are as valuable as those learned in the classroom. The Athletics program at SPA is one of the most successful in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). SPA is ranked in the top 20 of all MSHSL schools in the number state for championships won. Our student athletes have been recognized as some of the top athletes in the state, region and country. The women's soccer team has been in the state tournament each of the last three years and won the state championship in 2023. Additionally, a number of former and current team members plan to play at the college level in the future.

Position Begins: August 2025

Status: Part-time, Seasonal

Department: Athletics

Salary: $5,000-$6,000 based on qualifications and experience

Description:

In this position the successful candidate will serve as Head Coach of the US Varsity team and support lower level programs. Included in the responsibilities are coaching, team management, support of assistant coaches and program development.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate strong effective organizational and communication skills with students, parents, and administration. A qualified candidate should have coaching experience in a competitive environment and in a state association like the MSHSL. Candidates should support the mission of SPA and be able to support/contribute to student athlete life outside athletics.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:





  1. Ensure the women's soccer culture reflects the "Spartan Way" - Integrity, Excellence and Passion and the the student athletes reflect the values of SPA athletics.



  2. Creating a positive environment that promotes team excellence - "We Before Me"



  3. Support the US and MS Athletic Directors to build a coaching staff of qualified coaches, mentoring them in coaching in the SPA traditions.



  4. Implementing well-organized and structured practices



  5. Coordinating competition schedules with the US Athletics Director



  6. Working with the athletics operations coordinator in scheduling transportation



  7. Maintaining accurate records and other required administrative work (rosters, schedules, physicals, results, records, equipment and individual and team accolades)



  8. Provide effective communication with, supervision and evaluation of all players



  9. Supporting graduating players in the college athletics search process



  10. Creating a rapport with the greater community, generating interest in the program recognizing the contributions of all; impressing upon the athletes and parents that their efforts are valued, while creating a positive team culture



  11. Participating as a positive team member in the Athletics Department supporting program excellence and development




SPA is an independent school that plays in the Independent Metro Athletic Conference (IMAC) and attracts college bound, bright and curious students, who lead multi-faceted lives. Executing a plan to successfully lead, develop, and nurture this type of student-athletes in a positive educational based athletic philosophy is a requirement.
