General Purpose The Regional Associate GC reports to the Managing Regional Associate General Counsel of OGC and will provide legal services on behalf of the OGC in coordination with other attorneys, System Associate General Counsels, with a specific emphasis on the assigned local hospitals. In addition to local duties, and dependent upon qualifications and experience, the Regional Associate GC may serve as a system subject matter specialist with responsibility for one or more aspects of the System's legal work. The Regional Associate GC will support and advise local management and key administrators of assigned hospitals, including local leaders of Risk and Compliance, on healthcare legal issues associated with day-to-day activities of a complex healthcare system. The Regional Associate GC may participate, as requested, in local leadership and operations meetings and will interface with System Associate GCs relative to their areas of specialization. A main function of the Regional Associate GC is to identify and triage legal issues at the local level and elevate to and coordinate with colleagues at the System level, including the Managing Regional AGC, to ensure consistent, efficient legal advice across the System enterprise. Essential Duties
- Ensures horizontal and vertical communication and collaboration within OGC and with other System leaders as necessary to provide consistent, high quality, integrated legal advice to protect the System, meet its business goals and achieve internal client/customer satisfaction.
- Reviews and analyzes health system business contracts.
- Provides legal advice on a variety of health law related matters, including issue spotting areas of regulatory risk and communicates risk appropriately with the client to identify practical and compliant solutions to achieve business objectives.
- Identifies and triages various employment law matters, and coordinates resolution of such matters with System colleagues.
- Represents the interests of the assigned local hospitals in contacts with outside parties including attorneys, third-party companies and government agencies.
- Participates in day-to-day meetings of assigned local hospitals as necessary to identify and triage legal issues.
- Prepares formal memoranda, SBARs and legal opinions on subjects that require legal research and analysis.
- Prepares communications, trainings, and recommended policy changes for assigned local hospitals consistent with OGC legal practices and System policy and procedure.
- Assists with the creation and maintenance of contract templates as appropriate and provides related leadership training.
- Assists with the maintenance of the OGC Contract Lifecycle Management System and related OGC reporting.
- Demonstrates knowledge and maintains and respects patient right to privacy by following the HIPAA Privacy and Security policies and procedures.

Job Requirements
General Requirements |
* Member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan. |
Work Experience |
* Minimum of four or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the areas of corporate health law. |
Education |
* Juris Doctor Degree from an A.B.A. accredited law school. |
