Position Summary
The Program manager/coordinator will manage drug and alcohol prevention services by developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote healthy, substance-free student lifestyles. The program manager will also lead educational initiatives, provide support services, and collaborate with campus partners to create a safe and supportive environment. This role involves both proactive prevention efforts and responsive support for students dealing with substance use issues.
Evaluation and Reporting:
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Certification in substance abuse counseling or prevention is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in drug and alcohol prevention, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Strong understanding of college student development, substance use, and mental health issues.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and foster a positive, inclusive campus environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit


  1. Program Development and Implementation:
    Develop educational campaigns, workshops, and seminars to raise awareness about substance abuse risks.
  2. Collaborate with campus organizations, residence life, and student groups to integrate prevention initiatives into campus life.

  3. Student Support and Counseling:
    Provide individual and group counseling for students experiencing issues related to drug and alcohol use.
  4. Conduct assessments to determine the level of support needed and refer students to appropriate services or treatment programs.
  5. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all student interactions.

  6. Outreach and Collaboration:
    Partner with local community organizations, healthcare providers, and law enforcement to enhance prevention efforts and support services.
