Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Fayetteville State University's Office of Strategic Communications seeks a skilled Digital Media Specialist to join our team. This dynamic role supports our digital media operations through photo editing, asset management, and graphic design initiatives. The ideal candidate will maintain our digital asset library using established naming conventions and metadata standards, process and edit photographs, and create graphics for various digital platforms. The position requires proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, experience with digital asset management systems, and strong organizational skills. Working closely with our Director of Marketing and Creative Services, Graphic Designer, and Staff Photographer, the Digital Media Specialist will ensure brand consistency and provide creative support during peak periods. This opportunity offers flexible scheduling and the chance to contribute to FSU's visual storytelling and brand presence.
Description of Work Continued:
Primary Responsibilities
Digital Asset Management

  • Organize and maintain a digital asset library using established naming conventions and metadata standards
  • Tag and categorize media assets for easy searchability and retrieval
  • Monitor asset usage and maintain version control
  • Archive outdated assets according to retention policies


Photo Editing & Graphics

  • Process and edit photographs from staff photographer
  • Make basic photo adjustments (color correction, cropping, resizing)
  • Create variations of images for different platforms/uses
  • Serve as backup support for the full-time graphic designer and photographer

Design Support

  • Assist with design projects across digital platforms
  • Create and adapt graphics for social media, web, and other digital channels
  • Maintain brand consistency across all deliverables
  • Support workflow during peak periods and staff absences

Digital Inventory Management

  • Track digital asset usage and licensing
  • Maintain organized file structure across platforms
  • Document processes and best practices
  • Generate regular reports on asset utilization

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and InDesign)
  • Experience with digital asset management systems
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of file formats and digital delivery requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of best practices in file naming and metadata
