Summary:
The Intern role provides administrative and project support within assigned department, while gaining valuable, hands-on experience in a healthcare environment.

Access to Care has a team of 100 located throughout the MH system. At the 241 Oxford St Office there are 37 team members. Access to Care, under the Center for Health Improvement, works to ensure comprehensive, affordable healthcare and improve the quality of life in our communities. Our 7 programs focus on the Social Drivers of Health addressing needs related to healthcare coverage, access to low cost or free medication, health system navigation. In addition, we partner with community-based organizations to connect consumers with appropriate resources.

The internship position will support two key components of the Access to Care program: the Operations Team and the New Mainer Initiative. As part of the Operations Team, the intern will focus on identifying gaps in current processes by collecting and analyzing walk-in data, recognizing trends, and contributing to the enhancement of our screening protocols. Through the New Mainer Initiative, the intern will also have the opportunity to support the ongoing grant-funded Vision Care Program. This includes conducting consumer outreach with the assistance of interpreter services, scheduling vision exams, and coordinating transportation needs.

Preference will be given to undergraduate juniors and seniors pursuing social work, public health, public policy, psychology, or related areas.
