Summary:
The Intern role provides administrative and project support within assigned department, while gaining valuable, hands-on experience in a healthcare environment.

The Non-Clinical Contracting team is responsible for managing non-clinical contracts for goods and services for Facilities, Information Technology, Human Resources, Finance and Security. Activities include facilitating major contracts (over $1mm annual spend) solicitations via the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, reviewing and approving purchasing requests, and managing supplier performance. Non-Clinical Contracting Team is part of the Supply Chain Department reporting to Finance.

Preference will be given to students studying business administration, finance, strategic procurement, purchasing, supply chain management, or business law.

Day to Day Activities include:

  • Review and approve requestions/contracts for non-clinical goods and services.
  • Assist in major Request for Proposal (RFP) initiatives.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions with suppliers.

Key Project:
  • Develop Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) practice for MaineHealth: > Research SRM best practices in HealthCare > Compile current SRM practices at MaineHealth > Analysis of companies and contract categories for SRM at MaineHealth > Develop proposal for implementing SRM best practices at MaineHealth
