Summary:

The Intern role provides administrative and project support within assigned department, while gaining valuable, hands-on experience in a healthcare environment.

Join our hard-working team for a hands-on, fast-paced internship experience this summer! This role offers an immersive introduction to the MedAccess program, where you'll support case managers in their workflows and case management efforts. As an intern, you'll play a critical role in helping patients-especially older adults-access affordable medications through various assistance programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist case managers across the MaineHealth system in supporting patients.
  • Engage with patients through phone calls and follow-ups to ensure their needs are met.
  • Coordinate with pharmaceutical company representatives and clinical providers.
  • Utilize the MaineHealth electronic medical record system (EPIC) for case management tasks.
  • Contribute to program improvement efforts, including preparing for a transition to a new data tracking system in 2025.
  • Collaborate on additional projects as needed.

  • A quick learner with the ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused mindset.
  • Interest in healthcare systems and community impact.

Other Details:

  • Travel between MaineHealth locations may be required, with most work centered in Biddeford and Portland.
  • Gain exposure to diverse aspects of case management and healthcare operations.
  • This internship offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on patient care.

Preference will be given to students in any majors related to public health, social work, non-clinical pre-med, sociology, health informatics/data science, communications, pharmacy, or related.
