Summary:

The Intern role provides administrative and project support within assigned department, while gaining valuable, hands-on experience in a healthcare environment.

The MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and Children's Service Line support MaineHealth system-wide work in pediatrics. MH Barbara Bush Children's Service Line supports neonates to adolescents to adulthood as part of pediatrics, family medicine, primary care, specialty care, emergency/urgent care, and inpatient settings as well as all prevention and public health program and initiatives. The service line supports many ongoing systemwide subcommittees in these areas of care to facilitate quality improvement initiatives, develop and disseminate care team education and promote consistency across pediatric services and operations.

There are a variety of initiatives that the service line supports, including Project CORE (Coordinating Optimal Referral Experiences), Barbara Bush Children's Patient Advisory Council, Excellence in Pediatric Care recognition for primary care practices, Barbara Bush Children's Critical Care Transport, and Neonatal Resuscitation Simulation Education. This non-clinical internship position would work closely with the Barbara Bush Children's Service Line Program Coordinator and Manager on aspects of these programs and initiatives. Summer projects may include drafting patient education, analyzing quality data, and developing plans for a new patient advisory council.

Preference will be given to undergraduate students interested in pediatric care or children's health.

1. Education: Student who is currently enrolled in a two-year Associate's Degree program, Bachelor's Degree program, or graduate-level program preferred.
