Description NorDxProfessional - Nonclinical Full-time: 32-40 hours per week Onsite, in-person All summer internship applications requireboth a cover letter and resumeto be considered. Summary: NorDx is a not-for-profit clinical laboratory based in Scarborough, Maine. Established in 1976 as the first licensed independent laboratory in Maine, NorDx has grown to provide comprehensive, dependable, quality laboratory services to hospitals, physicians, long-term care providers, other laboratories and health care organizations throughout Northern New England.We are committed to supporting our partners in health care by providing superior quality and cost-effective laboratory services which emphasize customer satisfaction, value, innovation, technology and exceptional service. We manage and execute all aspects of diagnostic analyses thoroughly, accurately and efficiently. Laboratory results are used in approximately 70% of decisions involved in the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of any given illness. Our intern will assist with: Pre-Analytics for Histology and Cytology (embedding, microtomy, manual specimen staining, loading and maintaining instruments for slide prep and staining) Various Specimen Processing/Admin Assistant tasks (triaging specimens incoming/outgoing slides, answering phone calls and questions, specimen discard and storage). Preference will be given to undergraduate students pursuing pre-med, medical biology or related areas. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) 1. Education: Student who is currently enrolled in a two-year Associate's Degree program, Bachelor's Degree program, or graduate-level program preferred. 4.
