Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Research Scientist.

In this role, the successful candidate The vision of the Institute for Excellence in Health Equity IEHE is to strive for excellence in health equity research clinical care and medical education The Research Pillar of IEHE seeks to recruit world class investigators to lead a robust research portfolio in critical dimensions of health equity to conduct cutting edge large scale research IEHE is searching for a Senior Research Scientist who will work under the Associate Director of Research to drive forward the mission of the Research Pillar and the development of a Health Equity Data Hub to evaluate progress to improve health equity across the NYU Langone Health System The successful candidate for this position will possess strong analytical creative and problem solving skills with an emphasis on understanding the intersection of health and social needs data science systems science and policy

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the Associate Director and collaborate with Research Pillar leads to conduct health equity research activities that address four key health equity domains structural interventions that target social determinants of health digital health equity embedded learning health systems and community clinical linkage models
  • Initiate interpret organize execute and coordinate collaborative research projects critical to the IEHE mission in the focal areas of maternal health cardiovascular disease child obesity and aging
  • Develops new ideas that promote independence and facilitate health equity research in collaboration with operational leaders other data hubs and health equity scientists Exercises a high degree of creativity foresight and mature judgment in planning organizing and guiding health equity research programs and activities of outstanding novelty and/or importance
  • Oversee and advise on analytic approaches to quantify reach demonstrate impact and identify opportunities for improvement in health equity research
  • Develop a wide range of clinical and socially relevant measures and data collection strategies for programs initiatives and pilots that address health equity
  • Advise on synthesis of complex data sets and information to identify and communicate trends opportunities for improvement and innovative solutions in alignment with IEHE s aims and goals and in service to the System Health Equity Committee and related health system initiatives
  • Provide support to clinical departments in the use of the health equity dashboard to evaluate progress toward health equity goals
  • Development of best practices and guidelines for the analysis interpretation and dissemination of health equity data
  • Disseminate findings to local and national communities and identify opportunities to translate research findings into policy
  • Contribute significantly to the professional and scientific community through reports blog posts podcasts manuscript publications and conference presentations on health equity research
  • Demonstrate the ability to navigate or engage peers and stakeholders across all levels to get the work done through formal and informal channels for example to develop an algorithm to risk stratify social needs screening results and track rates of social needs across ambulatory and inpatient environments
  • May provide students with technical guidance and direction in the operation of various analytical approaches
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Proficient at developing evaluation strategies and tools and then applying those strategies and tools throughout each performance period Knowledge of project management and evaluation tools methods and best practices Experience with planning and evaluation approaches such as Logic Models Balanced Scorecards economic and policy modeling Strong survey/questionnaire design statistical/quantitative SAS R excel and qualitative data collection and management and communication/interpersonal and reporting skills written and oral ; Data visualization expertise preferred Excellent written and oral communication skills applicable to a wide variety of audiences Ability to exercise discretion good independent judgment and independent thinking in selecting the optimal course of action Strong leadership communication interpersonal organizational project management customer service and problem solving skills

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a PhD and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:
A PhD with a specialization in Public Health Population Health Health Services Research Systems Science Health Economics and/or Evaluation Substantial experience from having completed Post Doc training Established a record of publications A minimum of 5 years of relevant progressive experience in a research or evaluation role

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $85,000.00-$100,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
