Responsibilities

Cedar Springs Hospital is seeking a talented and dynamic Infection Control Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals!

Full-Time, Shifts may vary as determined by the needs of the hospital but will generally consist of working days, Monday through Friday.

Minimum Hourly Rate: $39.00/hour

Maximum Hourly Rate $50.00/hour

Responsibilities:

DEFINITION OF ROLE: Coordinates the activities of the Facility's infection control program, by assuming direct responsibility for infection surveillance, infection control reporting, and provision of infection control technical support and education for the facility staff.

Qualifications

JOB DESCRIPTION INCLUDES; BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Develop and maintain a method of identifying and recording known or suspected infections in patients and employees.
  • Carry out periodic inspections to ensure that procedures for the control of infections are being followed correctly.
  • Coordinate closely with all departments to obtain information regarding patients and staff with suspected infections and ensuring control procedures are in place and adhered to.
  • Coordinate with the Infection Control Committee to determine the direction of surveillance activities.
  • Identify objectives for infection control monitoring, data collection and reporting.
  • Prepare monthly reports to the Safety/Risk Management Committee, Infection Control Committee, Medical Staff Committee, and Nursing Administration Committee that includes data on infection rates by nursing units, site and pathogen.
  • Notify the County and/or State Health Department/Board of any reportable diseases, adhering to all internal county and state procedures.
  • Help control the speed of infection in accord with infection control policies and procedures by ascertain the nature of the infection and the steps to be followed and judge their degree of implementation.
  • Identify the need for intervention in the care of patients and employees with infection and contact the appropriate individuals when necessary.
  • Participate in infection control education of all employees during orientation and annually thereafter, including classes in infection control practices and employee health.
  • Assist with the development of an education program pertaining to the infection control within the facility.
  • Adhere to facility, department and Corporate Personnel Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
  • Attends all required in-services annually:
    • Fire, disaster, and safety and updates
    • Infection Control and updates
    • Administrative policies and procedures
    • Crisis Intervention and updates
    • CPR
    • Others as assigned

CUSTOMERS SERVED: Adolescents (age 12-17) and Adults (ages 18+) Patients; families; direct-care service providers; external funding sources; service, accreditation, and licensing agencies; external case managers; school districts (if applicable); other staff and members within the community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing, possesses an unencumbered license from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Associate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) from the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience as registered nurse in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all Hospital competencies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to clearly speak, write and understand verbal and written English. Selected skills/credentials as defined by the department's scope of services.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • OSHA Fit Tester
  • Responsible for employee health compliance/record keeping (e.g.: Flu shots)
