Position Overview


Position Summary
The full-time Regional Director will be responsible for coordinating WSSU GEAR UP program components in target GEAR UP K-12 schools and community colleges. The Regional Director will provide technical assistance and monitor progress to meet grant goals and objectives in participating school districts and community colleges. Consistent travel to the school districts and community colleges is required. Three Regional Directors positions are available. The Regional Director position available will service Forsyth County.

  • The 12-month, full-time Regional Director of WSSU GEAR UP will report to the Associate Director and be responsible for coordinating WSSU GEAR UP program components. The Regional Director will provide technical assistance to WSSU GEAR UP educational partners (Community Colleges and Local Education Agency partners) along with monitoring and evaluating progress towards meeting grant goals and objectives.
  • Provide technical assistance to WSSU GEAR UP participating schools for program design, development, implementation, evaluation, sustainability efforts, annual work plan development, and annual budget justification.
  • Communicate regularly with community colleges and school district administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, WSSU GEAR UP Coordinators, business and community leaders.
  • Work collaboratively with other Regional Directors and the Associate Director to prepare comprehensive professional development programming for WSSU GEAR UP educational partners
  • Secure student and family residential experiences for WSSU GEAR UP students and their families
  • Identify resources needed to improve the academic preparation and performance of WSSU GEAR UP students within the individual community colleges and LEAs
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of annual postsecondary success summits
  • Manage all aspects of WSSU GEAR UP early intervention components, including meeting with WSSU GEAR UP partner organizations, scheduling and coordinating training for field personnel, and helping WSSU GEAR UP school districts review evaluation reports to increase student learning
  • Regional Director should possess a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, family engagement, and sustainable community partnerships to improve student outcomes.
  • Monitor the data collection of student and parent participation, track student academic achievement, and monitor monthly expenditures of WSSU GEAR UP programs.
  • Compose and submit reports to the Executive Director as well as compile evaluation data for annual federal reporting activities.
