Commodity Manager - Hybrid

Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, this position plays a key role in executing our strategies with responsibility for sourcing numerous highly engineered commodities including hydraulic components, winches, gear boxes, fiberglass components, etc. utilizing the global leverage of Terex ensuring that Terex globally and regionally achieves best value in cost, quality, delivery, reliability, service, and support. This role will also co-ordinate cross functional relationships including commercial teams, product development/engineering, scheduling, local purchasing, operations, finance, and customer product support.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsiblefor the development and implementation of commodity sourcing strategies for highly engineered components to support the Terex Utilities business through the lowest total acquisition cost for purchased components

  • Assembles and analyzes data to arrive at Request for Quote (RFQ) / Request for Proposal (RFP) criteria, a final list of suppliers, and a negotiation strategy

  • Negotiates long-term agreements with specific suppliers, ensuring the company meets its goals

  • Drives the implementation plan for the commodity team, establishing metrics and tracking tools to measure progress in meeting objectives and serving continuous improvement

  • Manages high level, strategic supplier contacts with key or high-impact suppliers as they are selected and integrated into the company's operations - developing relationships with upper management to assure long-term strategic sources, communicates performance goals, gaps to performance, and outlines strategies for improvement to assure performance expectations are achieved as they relate to the company's business needs, utilizing supplier scorecard criteria

  • Defines, resolves, and provides permanent solutions to systematic supplier performance issues with the assistance of other functional representatives such as quality, product engineering, etc., while managing the day-to-day supplier relationship issues, thereby assuring proper communication occurs

  • Development and implementation ofmaterial indexing mechanisms where necessary to maintain cost control

  • Identifies, develops, and implements breakthrough methods to integrate with the New Product Development (NPD) processes and activities

  • Development ofpolicies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring safety, quality, and delivery continuity

  • Collaboration with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide a resilient and cost-effective supply chain

  • Conduct consistent with Terex policies, operating procedures, practices, and applicable laws

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with focus on supply chain, engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ year's work experience in Global manufacturing industry while dealing with Global supply base or fabrication related industry

  • Must be able to travel (travel is estimated at 25% - rising to 75% during periods of supplier assessment and selection)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong procurement and strategic sourcing background

  • Proven supplier management and negotiation skills; able to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all involved parties

  • Excellent project management skills and used to work in global, cross-functional teams

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

  • Ideal candidate is entrepreneurial and able to work with little guidance

  • Technical savvy and able to read technical drawings, specifications, and applications

  • Technical background in hydraulics, machining or metal fabrication industries a plus

  • Strong problem-solving aptitude and excellent analytical skills plus high proficiency in MS Office products

  • Strong communication and listening skills

The salary range for this position is $85,200.00 - $115,000.00 USD. The salary range may be higher or lower depending on the applicant's location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
