Medical Assistant

Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant I role is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment while promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office. The Medical Assistant I functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

1.Education:High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
2.License/Certifications:Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification preferred or achieved within 1 year of eligibility. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire.
3.Experience:Relevant experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.

  • Conduct telehealth visits as part of our commitment to providing access to care. Must possess strong digital literacy skills, demonstrate proficiency with telehealth platforms, and maintain a high standard of patient care and communication in a virtual setting.
  • EMR Experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with a heart of compassion and empathy towards our patients and families.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and partner with team members, including physicians and other clinicians, market leaders, center managers, nurses, case managers, front desk staff, center managers, and market leaders.
  • Mindset focused on resolving problems for patients and achieving team goals.
  • Must be detail-oriented to ensure accuracy of reports and data.
  • Skilled in basic phone and computer operation.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English.

  • Knowledge of medical products, terminology, services, standards, policies and procedures.

Clinical Team Assistant

Position Summary:

The Clinical Team Assistant is responsible for performing daily patient service functions to support the clinical team in the delivery of patient care. The Clinical Team Assistant functions under the license of a provider when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

1.Education:Graduate of an accredited vocational program, community college, or university in the field of health sciences or a student in a health science program that required clinical experience for advancement; or completion of an MA program that did not require a clinical externship; or completion of a healthcare vocational program with a patient facing component; or completion of the CTA apprentice program, or equivalent relevant clinical patient facing experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
2.License/Certifications:Current BLS certification within three months of hire required.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets and places patient in room; measures and obtains patient vital signs including height and weight, and records information on patient's chart.
  • Collects and documents patient data to support the clinical visit. *
  • Performs specimen collection and transport, with specified training, may include phlebotomy and POCT testing. *
  • Enter labs, x-rays, and other diagnostics per protocol or as directed by provider. *
  • Prepares, cleans, and disinfects exam and treatment rooms, necessary equipment and instruments, and ensures rooms are free from clutter and hazardous materials. *
  • Reprocesses reusable instruments within the practice. *
  • Orders, stocks, and maintains exam rooms, special order items, supply storage areas, medications, forms, and equipment. *
  • Schedules, sends reminders, and cancels patient appointments as requested. *
  • Enters incoming referrals, obtains insurance authorizations, and coordinates outgoing referrals. *
  • Processes routine patient calls, per established protocols, and answers patient questions. *
  • Assists patients and families with identifying community resources to ensure healthcare needs are met. *
  • May handle biomedical, pharmaceutical, hazardous and universal wastes per regulatory and accreditation requirements and standards.
  • Understands and if assigned, demonstrates the ability to safety handle hazardous drugs which may include receipt, storage, compound, repackaging, dispensing, transporting and/or disposing of hazardous drugs.
