Located in the Campus Life Services (CLS) organization, FS is organized into five distinct units: (1) Mission Bay / East Campus Operations, (2) Parnassus / West Campus Operations, (3) Infrastructure & Utilities Services, (4) Customer Service & Technology, and (5) Strategic Organization Development.

Under the direction of the IPM & Grounds Associate Director, the Pest Control Supervisor will supervise and coordinate the work of Pest Control technician, Groundskeeper, Carpenters, Engineer and BMW crews on Campus, Real Estate leased building, and Health facilities, as needed. The Pest Control Supervisor will be responsible for providing technical support and direction for the Integrated Pest Management division, and act as Pest Control Coordinator for the UCSF IPM Committee.

The Supervisor is leading our IPM Core Value Continuous Improvement to protect the health of our patients, visitors, students, and research. Continuous education to modernize and stay ahead of the future pest infestation.


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $87,900 - $187,700 (Annual Rate).

FS employs over 460 professional staff and acts as steward for over $100 million in operating funds to achieve its goals in operating and maintaining the UCSF campus environment. FS is organized into 7 operating units: (1) West Campus/Parnassus Operations, (2) East Campus/Mission Bay Operations, (3) Engineering & Utilities, (4) Facilities Projects(5) Business Operations Service Center, (6) Custodial Services, and (7) Office of the AVC, including Administration & Communications.

Required Qualifications


  • Four (4) years degree entomology, biological science, sustainability, environmental sciences or related field, or 6 years related experience as Pest control applicator, IPM manger, or supervisor
  • Valid DPR Qualified Applicator's License A/B or Qualified Applicator's Certificate (QAL/QAC Category A and B) or valid Branch 2 Field Representative License.
  • Valid Driver License C
  • Ability to supervise work in progress and inspect completed assignments to ensure that satisfactory progress, work quality, operating procedures, efficiency, safety and other work standards are being satisfactorily met and maintained
  • Ability to administer and enforce departmental policies, work rules, rules of conduct, performance standards, University policies, procedures, etc. among assigned employees
  • Skills to effectively participate in the selection and evaluation of staff and to appropriately handle disciplinary issues
  • Ability to manage emergency pest control response in Research animal labs, and clinical spaces
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice management for IPM
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety requirements, and regulations for pest control application with the State of California under DPR
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with campus departments at all levels; ability to effectively interact with a diverse professional staff both independently and as a team member in a busy environment.
  • Ability to draft pest control reports, and presentation to large audience
  • Working knowledge of the methods for structural pest control applications and treatment
  • Working knowledge of pest control and regulation
  • Working knowledge of the methods, and concept to pest control exclusion
  • Demonstrated ability to give clear written and oral instructions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)

Preferred Qualifications


  • Ability to lead pest Control Technicians, "exclusion" carpenter, and BMW, schedule PM, respond to customer request, and suggestion; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to analyze problems, determine solutions, and make decisions based on analysis.
  • Entomology and/or plant pathogens courses
  • Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE)
  • Experience working with laboratory spaces
  • Experience working with animal labs
  • Experience working with Medical Center, and Clinical spaces
  • Experience working with general housing
  • Working knowledge of the methods, and process for pigeons, and rodent control
  • Working knowledge of the methods, and process for pest biohazard clean up method
  • Understanding Sustainability IPM Guidelines for structural and Landscape pest control

License/Certification


  • Valid DPR Qualified Applicator's License A/B or Qualified Applicator's Certificate (QAL/QAC Category A and B) or valid Branch 2 Field Representative License.
  • Valid Driver License C
